Rules for application into the PhD Program and procedure:

1. Research will be conducted in France within a ParaFrap team according to the proposals which will be shown following registration and login.

2. Applicants must have achieved academic excellence and be highly motivated to pursue a PhD project in Parasitology. They should have obtained a 'Masters 2'  degree or an equivalent (5 years after high/secondary school) in science by July 2016; out of this format, only exceptional dossiers (upon justification) will be considered by the program director. English language skills are necessary.
The PhD program does not have an age restriction, but most accepted candidates are 24-26 years old and start their Ph.D. within a year of finishing their M.S., a few of them within 3 years.

3.  Mobility between the Master's lab and the PhD lab is mandatory, meaning that the applicants must change from their present Research Director and Institute to another (s) for the PhD training (no “in-house” candidates will be admitted).

4. Deadline for students' applications is  April 3rd 2016.

5. While constituting your CV, please indicate the name of the supervisor under whose direction your Master's internship was performed, including his e-mail address. Provide the field of your training (e.g., chemistry, microbiology, botany, genetics, biotechnology, biochemistry, etc.). Provide two references (name & e-mail address) who will receive an automatic request for a letter of recommendation.

6. During the selection process, each candidate will also need to indicate his choice of 3 out of the 11 ParaFrap PhD projects as his/her preferred PhD subjects. If admitted to the PhD program, the candidate agrees to be assigned to one of the 3 selected projects.

7. Applicants will be selected by a committee formed by group leaders of each of the participating laboratories, based on the high standards used at EMBL. A first selection of twenty-five to thirty candidates will be based on the academic achievements and (blind) letters of recommendation. End of April, shortlisted candidates will be invited for a second interview process for the final selection of the 11 candidates. This interview will take place in Paris on the 22 and 23rd June 2016. Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by ParaFrap. Applicants from outside the European Union might be interviewed by video conference.
8. The final decisions are expected for June 25th 2016; and a strong commitment to be enrolled in our PhD program will then be asked to the successful applicants.
